I’m going to start off this post by explaining how very special it was for me to photograph this wedding. This beautiful bride, Jillian, is an amazing friend and I’ve been lucky enough to watch her and Connor’s relationship seamlessly grow. I remember getting the text after her and Connor’s first date (literally they sent a selfie) – they met and just clicked. Us girlfriends got to meet Connor soon after; he won us over with his easy-going attitude, mad shuffle board skills, and most importantly his sincere admiration for our gem, Jillian.
Fast forward to about two years later and these two are with their family & closest friends on a gorgeous (but chilly!) Friday morning, preparing to say “I do”. The girls had the most beautiful slate blue gowns with lace top detailing and each one looked gorgeous. The men, in a classic black tux to compliment. The bride and groom opened gifts back-to-back and could not stop smiling the moment they saw one another. Right as we began photos, the snow started to fall ever so lightly; it couldn’t have been more perfect, and the wedding crew could not have been more awesome! The reception was hosted at The Minneapolis Depot. (an AWESOME venue for this snowy winter wedding!) They kept the details and décor super simple and classic with winter greens and white.
The details were beautiful, but what stuck out to me the most through this entire day was the complete, raw emotion. From Jillian opening a gift from her parents while getting ready, the first look, families coming together, all the way to the reception as Jillian and Connor thanked their guests. Their gratitude & love was felt throughout the room.
Watching this couple interact with one another throughout the day was what hit me most. Jillian & Connor, your love and respect for one another is admirable and the energy you give off, not only as individuals, but now as partners is ridiculously warm and joyful. I cannot wait to watch you grow in marriage.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for having me a part of this special day
Oh goodness where do I start?! This was my first time photographing at the Greysolon Ballroom in Duluth, MN and it did not disappoint! (did you see the chandeliers?!) They were awesome and with the amazing work of Northland Special Events, Kelsey's vision truly came to life. Sequin table clothes, blush and dark pinks, gold accents, lights - it was as if they were made for this very venue!
Kelsey had her bridesmaids pick out their own bridesmaid dresses. I LOVE this trend. Each gal can wear what they feel best in and matches their style. They coordinated so well together and each of them looked beautiful!
This may sound funny and I'm not exactly sure how to even describe it. Kelsey and Derek don't have the kind of love that is super loud and out there. But you feel it. You feel love yourself and just an overall sense of calmness when you're around the two of them. It just feels good and you know it's real. I think I can honestly say I think they are meant to be.
Kelsey & Derek, congrats!
